Three More Cards

I guess the last of the Road to 10,000 Hits Contest cards are coming in. I received one from Anthony yesterday, which was sent over the weekend. Pretty amazing that it could here in only three days, seeing as how there’s a huge snowstorm out East. Anthony, if you’re reading this, I forgot what you requested for the card so let me know and I’ll have it out for you. The other two cards came today from Dayf and includes an insert and a parallel? I’m not exactly sure what these all black cards are. I know they’re exclusive to Wal-Mart blasters and they look like a parallel of the base, except for the fact that even the background is blacked out. Error cards? Gimmicks? Who knows. I know they have a separate black parallel that is serial numbered to 58 and retains the background, which celebrates 58 years of collecting. If anyone could shed more light on what this black card is, that would be helpful. I know there’s been a few entries and articles on this, but I’ve been passing them by.  By the way, Dayf if you are reading, I also forgot what you wanted so guys, here’s the rest of what’s left from the hits contest; I remember someone wanted me to hold onto the Bonser so they could trade for it, but I forgot who:

Night Owl Cards Swoop In For Two

The Road to 10,000 Contest continues to be a hit for the readers. Today on Day 3 (I’ve received packages from readers for the past three days), comes from Greg over at Night Owl Cards. Yes, I know, he’s a Dodgers’ fan, but I’ve decided to be nice and let them in on the fun too. He sent over three cards, one of which was a double that Dayf sent in earlier so the 2008 NL ERA Leaders card doesn’t count. Dave already scooped up the Gavin Floyd card anyway on Day 2. But he did send in two different cards with the 2008 NL Cy Young Award Winner card from 2009 Topps and also a Team leaders card from 2009 UD Series One. This brings me to a total of 99 different cards in the collection! I have a special card for the bit 100, which should be happening within the next few days.

Which cards did the Night Owl swoop in on? Greg took the 2008 Masterpieces Captured on Canvas Rod Carew card and also the 2008 Masterpieces Stroke of Genius Chone Figgins card. Those two are off the board and you can see the updated list of cards still available on the contest link on your upper right hand corner. There’s still plenty of cards to go around! Let’s keep those packages coming in.

Another Day, Another Two Cards Off the Shelf

I received a package from Dave from Fielder’s Choice today with two 2007 SP Rookie Edition cards of Lincey. I think that completes the whole base set of Tim from that product and I must admit the cards look pretty nice. I really like the first one and you can tell by the design that  they kind of took the side image and added that to the ‘By the Letter’ autographed manufactured patches. In return, he asked for the 2007 Sweet Spot Adam Lind Blue Ink Bat #’d 03/99 and the 2008 Masterpieces Stroke of Genius Gavin Floyd so those are off the shelf now. I also sent him some Rays cards that I’ve been meaning to send, but good thing I waited to include them all in one package. Keep those packages and cards coming! There’s still plenty of hit cards to go around (12!) I’ve updated the list in the contest entry so the ones crossed off are the ones that have already been given away. Here’s a look at the two cards I received:

Oh yea, I also received a card I bought off eBay last week. I know I said I wouldn’t be buying random singles off eBay, but this one was cheap! It was .05! Yes, it cost a nickel and the reason I got it was because shipping was super cheap too. It was around $1.50 so for $1.55 I got an insert card, which is pretty neat.

This brings me to a total of 97 different cards, so watch out Mario, I’m gunning for your 114 🙂

Dayf Strikes First in Trade Me A Lincey Contest!

The 2008 Sweet Spot Sweet Beginnings Signatures Jarrod Saltalamacchia card is now off the board! Dayf from Cardboard Junkie quickly sent a package consisting of 6 Lincey cards! All he wanted in return was the Saltalamacchia card, so thanks to his generosity, the contest gets to keep going a little longer. He could’ve wiped out six cards! Instead, I sent him a few Braves cards from the Elements box break. Hopefully he can enjoy them. Here’s what I got in return:

For the most part they are from the new 2009 Topps product with the exception of the Zito Co-Signers. You know, a lot of people have complained about Co-Signers, but I really really like the technology of the card. It’s holographic-like in that if you lay the card flat, you can see Lincecum, but if you look at the straight on, he kind of disappears. Beautiful. I really want to try to get all the parallels from that set now, but that will have to wait as there is another card I am currently after on eBay. I will let everyone know soon if I get it.

10,000 Hits Contest: Trade Me A Lincey!

What’s a Lincey? A Tim Lincecum card of course. Here are the rules:

1. You must send me a Tim Lincecum card that I do not currently have. (You can check what I have here; it is always updated)

2. It can be any card, base, insert, etc., as long as I don’t have it.

3. Parallel cards that I don’t have, works.

4. Serial numbered cards that I don’t have,  also works.

5. The number of cards you send = the number of cards you get to choose from (For example, if you send me three different Lincey cards, you get to pick three different hits)

7. I constantly update my collection due to trades, purchases, etc. so check it often. As soon as I post that I got something, it is no longer up for trading.

8. They must be undamaged/mint cards.

1,000 Hits Contest!

Wow, I can’t believe I already hit 1,000 page views and growing after a little over a week or two of starting this blog! The readership is amazing and I thank each and every one of you for your support and kind words. In celebration of this (moment &) milestone, I will be holding the first ever contest here at The Nennth Inning. I will create a new page, where you can navigate on the upper left hand side with the rest of the pages. Leave your comments as your answer to the question. Only one guess per person. Contest will end on November 1 so you have plenty of time to enter. If you want to guess strategically, you might want to save your guess answers until after the season ends as you are only allowed one answer in the comments section.
